  • Philippines (95K) and USA also contributed meaningful non-mainland volume this month.
  • Revenue managers should prioritise the Taiwan and Macao SAR FIT segments — these markets deliver higher RevPAR per stay than the high-frequency but rate-compressed Mainland day-trip segment.

With the Mainland Chinese base providing stable floor volume at 80.0%, the strategic focus for revenue managers lies in the 880K non-mainland visitors (20.0% of total), +12.6% year-on-year — the segment where pricing power, RevPAR differentiation, and long-stay value are concentrated.

  2. Macao SAR: 112K visitors (-1.2% YoY)
  3. USA: 96K visitors (+16.7% YoY)

Why Mainland Share Is Elevated This Month

Mainland Chinese arrivals reached 80.0% of total — above the typical 72–77% structural band — due to summer travel peak driving mainland concentration above the typical 73–77% range. With 3.51M mainland arrivals (+11.8% YoY), the mainland base is healthy; however, the elevated concentration temporarily compresses the visible weight of non-mainland segments in the overall mix.

This is a recurring seasonal pattern rather than a structural shift: once the peak period passes, the mainland share normalises back to the mid-70s range.

Revenue Strategy

  • Taiwan FIT: Consistently among Hong Kong's top non-mainland markets — these visitors are culturally similar to Mainland guests but show meaningfully higher ADR sensitivity to hotel quality and F&B offerings. Book 2–4 weeks ahead; direct channel conversion is achievable with targeted promotions via KKday and social media.
  • Southeast Asia (Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia): Growing segment, typically 3–5 night stays. Philippine and Thai visitors over-index on shopping and hospitality experiences — in-hotel shopping concierge and dining packages improve ancillary revenue capture.
  • USA & Western markets: Highest RevPAR contribution per visit — average stay 5–7 nights, high F&B and spa spend. Invest in direct booking tools and GDS visibility for corporate accounts; these guests are least price-elastic and most loyalty-receptive.
  • Mainland positioning: Rather than competing on rate for the high-volume Mainland segment (which has the narrowest RevPAR per stay), focus on upsell — Mainland visitors respond strongly to premium amenity packages, celebrity dining experiences, and harbour-view room upgrades.
